Ready to Cloak your first phone number? Setting up Cloaked Phone involves a few steps to ensure it works seamlessly with your phone. Here’s how to get started:

Before You Begin:

• Ensure you have the latest version of the Cloaked mobile app installed.
• You need a verified phone number associated with your Cloaked account. This is the number your Cloaked phone number will be associated to.
• The number you wish to be Cloaked set as your primary/default line.

Setup Steps:

1. Open the Cloaked app and find the Cloaked Phone Number setup option (Select the magnifying glass Icon in Basic Mode Home screen to reach the For You page). Tap Get Cloaked Phone to begin.
   
   Advanced users: if you are in Advanced Mode you will need to switch back to basic mode to use the singular Cloaked Phone option. For additional advanced options please click here.

   

   

   

   

   2. Congrats! Your Cloaked phone number has been created. Copy your number to start sharing or using it right away. You can come back to this Phone icon anytime to view the number and view any messages, calls and what's been marked as spam.

   Want to quickly access and autofill your Cloaked Phone number? (iphone only) Here's a simple trick:

   Copy your Cloaked Phone number from the app

   Open your device's Contacts app

   Find your own contact card (or create one)

   Add your Cloaked Phone number as a second phone number

   Label it as "Cloaked" or "Private"

   Now, whenever you need to use your Cloaked Phone number, it will appear as an autofill option on your device!

What type of phone number is my Cloaked Phone?

Your Cloaked Phone number is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) number, which means it operates through the internet rather than traditional cellular networks. This is different from SIM-based numbers that are tied to physical SIM cards in mobile devices.

While VOIP numbers work great for most purposes, some services may block or restrict their use. This is particularly common with:

Google services (including Google Voice verification)

Food delivery apps (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.)

Banking and financial institutions

Some social media & dating apps

Will Cloaked Phone replace my current phone number?

No! Your Cloaked Phone number is completely separate from your existing phone number. Here's what you need to know:

Your current number stays exactly the same - Cloaked Phone won't change or interfere with your existing phone service

No additional charges - Cloaked Phone is included in your current Cloaked subscription plan

All your regular calls and texts continue normally - Messages and calls to your personal number will work just as they always have 

Think of your Cloaked Phone as an additional layer of privacy, not a replacement for your existing number.

What can I do with my Cloaked Phone number right now?

Cloaked Phone is designed with privacy and security in mind. Here's what's currently available:

Receiving Communications:

• ✓ Receive incoming calls (as missed calls or voicemail)
• ✓ Receive text messages
• ✓ All communications appear directly in your Cloaked app

Current Limitations:

• Cannot make outbound calls

• Cannot initiate text conversations (you can only reply to incoming texts)

  Why these limitations?

     These restrictions help us prevent misuse of our service by bad actors and maintain the integrity of Cloaked          Phone numbers for all our users. We're working on expanding capabilities while maintaining security.

    How do text messages work?

    Your Cloaked Phone can receive text messages from anyone, but to maintain security and prevent spam:

• You can only reply to texts you receive - You cannot initiate new text conversations
• Swipe left to ignore unwanted messages - This helps you manage your inbox and filter out unwanted communications

    This approach ensures your Cloaked Phone number remains a trusted, spam-free communication channel.
