Whether you're troubleshooting an issue, need to ensure an important call comes through without screening, or simply want to turn the feature off, this guide will show you how to disable Call Guard.
It is crucial to follow these steps. Disabling Call Guard involves turning off the call forwarding setting with your mobile carrier. If you only delete the app without completing this process, your calls may continue to be forwarded, and you could miss them.
Pausing vs. Disabling Call Guard
Currently, a one-tap "pause" feature is available that will pause Call Guard for 24 hours. To stop call screening permanently, you will need to use the disable process outlined below. Don't worry—you can easily re-enable Call Guard at any time from the app, and your previous call history and voicemails will be waiting for you.
How to Disable Call Guard (Recommended Method)
The safest way to disable the service is directly through the Cloaked app - these steps apply to users in basic mode and advanced mode.
- Open the Cloaked app and tap the Menu tab in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap on Profile & Settings (this is under your Name or Cloaked Username).
- Select Call Guard Settings from the settings menu.
- Tap the grey toggle at the top of the screen to pause Call Guard. Under troubleshoot settings below the pause option, Select the option deactive to turn the feature off.
- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. The app will generate the specific code you need to dial to instruct your carrier to stop forwarding calls. You must complete this final step.
After dialing the code, you should see or hear a confirmation message from your carrier. Your calls will now ring directly to your phone as they did before you enabled Call Guard.
Manual Disable: For When You Can't Access the App
If you have already deleted the app or are unable to access it, and your calls are still being sent to a strange voicemail, you can manually enter your carrier's disable code.
Open your phone's native dialer app and enter the code for your carrier:
- For Verizon (and carriers using the Verizon network such as Spectrum or Xfinity):
- Dial *73 and press the call button.
- For AT&T (and carriers using their networks):
- Dial ##004# and press the call button.
- For T-Mobile (and carriers using their networks such as Mint or Boost):
- Dial ##61# and press the call button.
- If the above code does not work, dial ##004# and press the call button.
- For most other carriers
- Dial #21# and press the call button.
This directly tells your carrier to cancel all conditional call forwarding on your line.
If you are not sure what mobile network your carrier is using, or the code you dial doesn't work, please try all of the 4 codes above.
If you are on an iPhone - you can turn back on Live Voicemail and turn off silence unknown callers (optional)
If you are on android - Go to the "Settings" app
- Navigate to "Apps" and then "Default Apps"
- Tap on the option "Caller ID & Spam app"
- Select "None" or "phone"
