Call Guard is a powerful tool designed to significantly reduce the number of unwanted calls that interrupt your day. However, because spammers are constantly changing their tactics, no system can be 100% perfect.
If you feel you're still receiving too many spam calls after activating Call Guard, this guide will help you troubleshoot the most common causes and show you how to improve its effectiveness.
First, Let's Check Your Setup
The most common reason for unwanted calls getting through is an incomplete or incorrect setup. For Call Guard to screen your calls, your mobile carrier must be correctly forwarding them to our service when your line is busy or unanswered.
How to Check Your Forwarding Status
You can quickly verify if Conditional Call Forwarding is active on your account:
- Open your phone's native dialer app (the one you use to make regular calls).
- Dial *#62# and press the call button.
You will see a pop-up message from your carrier.
- If the message shows that call forwarding is Enabled to the Call Guard phone number, your setup is correct.
- If the message shows call forwarding is Disabled or configured for a different number, Call Guard is not fully active. Please review our Troubleshooting Call Guard Setup & Activation guide to complete the process.
Why a Spam Call Might Get Labeled "Verified Caller"
Spammers constantly use new phone numbers to evade blocking systems. Occasionally, a brand-new spam number may not yet be identified in global spam databases, allowing it to pass our initial screen. When this happens, the call is forwarded to you as a "Verified Caller."
What You Can Do About It: Block the Caller
When a spam call gets through, you have the power to stop it from happening again and to help improve our system for everyone.
-
Open the Cloaked app and navigate to the Guard Icon.
- Find and tap on the spam call that got through.
- In the call details screen, tap the Block this Caller button.
This action immediately adds the number to your personal blocklist and reports it to our system. This is the single most effective way to improve Call Guard's accuracy.
Addressing Common Concerns
"I feel like I'm getting more spam calls since I signed up. Is that possible?"
We understand this concern. Call Guard never shares or exposes your personal phone number, so it cannot cause an increase in spam calls.
If you notice an increase in unwanted calls after trying to set up the service, it almost always points to call forwarding not being fully activated. This means calls are still reaching your number directly without being screened. Please use the *#62# check described above to confirm your setup.
You Are a Key Part of the Solution
Fighting spam is a collaborative effort. By using the Block this Caller feature for any unwanted calls that get through, you play a vital role in training our system and making Call Guard smarter and more effective for the entire Cloaked community.
If you have confirmed your setup is correct but are still experiencing a high volume of spam, please contact our support team with examples of the phone numbers that are getting through so we can investigate further.
