Welcome to Call Guard! We're excited to help you reduce the number of unwanted spam and scam calls you receive.

This guide will walk you through the requirements for using Call Guard and provide step-by-step solutions for common issues that can occur during the setup process.

Basic Requirements for Call Guard

Before you begin, please ensure you meet the following requirements. Call Guard will only work if:

  • You are physically located in the United States.
  • You have the Cloaked app installed on a mobile phone (iOS or Android). Tablets and desktop devices are not supported at this time.
  • Your cellular plan includes both voice calls and data.
  • Your mobile carrier supports Conditional Call Forwarding.

Carrier Support for Conditional Call Forwarding

Call Guard's ability to screen calls depends on your carrier's support for a feature called Conditional Call Forwarding.

Carriers that SUPPORT this feature include:

  • T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T
  • Metro by T-Mobile
  • Mint Mobile
  • Patriot Mobile
  • Xfinity Mobile
  • FreedomPop

Carriers that DO NOT support this feature include:

  • Most prepaid plans
  • Cricket Wireless
  • Google Fi Wireless
  • Republic Wireless
  • SpeedTalk Mobile
  • Visible
  • Walmart Family Mobile

Carriers that MAY support this feature (Support Not Guaranteed): For the following carriers, you may need to contact their customer support directly to enable Conditional Call Forwarding.

  • Boost Mobile
  • Spectrum Mobile
  • Consumer Cellular
  • Gen Mobile
  • H2O Wireless
  • Safelink Wireless
  • Straight Talk Wireless
  • TextNow
  • Ting
  • Tracfone Wireless
  • True Connect
  • US Mobile

How to Set Up Call Guard

To get started, simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Call Guard setup flow inside the Cloaked app. The process involves these key steps:

  1. Enable Notifications: Allow the Cloaked app to send you notifications.

  1. Share Contacts: Grant Cloaked access to your contacts so we know which callers to always let through.

  1. Configure Device Settings:
    • On iOS: You will be prompted to disable Live Voicemail and enable Silence Unknown Callers.

  • On Android: You will be prompted to set Cloaked as the default call screening app.

  1. Set Up Conditional Call Forwarding: This is the most important step. You will be prompted to dial a special code that tells your carrier to send unanswered or busy calls to Call Guard for screening. Legitimate calls are then routed back to you.

Troubleshooting Common Setup Problems

If you get stuck or see an error message, find your issue below for a solution.

Problem: Call Forwarding Setup Fails

This is the most common setup issue. If the initial attempt fails, here are the correct codes to try dialing manually from your phone's dialer app.

For Verizon (and MVNOs using the Verizon network):

  • Dial *71 followed by the 10-digit Call Guard phone number provided in the app.
    • Example: *711234567890

For AT&T and T-Mobile (and their MVNOs):

  • The most reliable code is *004* followed by the 10-digit Call Guard number, followed by #.
    • Example: *004*1234567890#
  • If that doesn't work, try *61* followed by the 10-digit Call Guard number, followed by #.
    • Example: *61*1234567890#

Tip: You can tap "Copy" in the setup screen and paste the full string into your Notes app to easily edit the forwarding code before pasting it into your dialer.

If you have a Dual SIM or multiple eSIMs: You must manually copy the dialing code and phone number, paste it into your phone's dialer, and then choose which SIM/line you want to protect with Call Guard before pressing the call button. Call Guard can only protect one phone number per Cloaked account.

Problem: The App Says "Setup Isn't Complete," But My Calls Are Being Screened

This can happen if the final test call fails, causing a miscommunication. To fix this:

  1. First, disable call forwarding to stop your calls from being screened incorrectly.
    • On Verizon: Dial *73 and press call.
    • On AT&T or T-Mobile: Dial ##004# and press call.
    • You should receive a confirmation message that call forwarding has been disabled.
  2. Restart the setup process. Open the Cloaked app and go through the Call Guard setup flow from the beginning.

Problem: I'm Not Receiving the Final Test Call

If you've successfully set up call forwarding, you may not always see the test call ring on your screen, especially if you have Do Not Disturb mode or other focus settings enabled.

Don't worry. As long as the Cloaked app shows a confirmation message that setup is complete, you are protected and good to go.

The final test call can take anywhere from 1-5 minutes to complete.

Helpful Tools & Next Steps

How to Check Your Call Forwarding Status

If you're unsure whether forwarding is active, you can check your status at any time.

  • Dial *#62# in your phone's dialer and press call.

You will see a message from your carrier. If it says Conditional Call Forwarding is Enabled for the Call Guard number, you're all set. If it says Disabled, you need to complete the setup process.

Setting Up a Couples or Family Plan Member

Call Guard cannot be configured remotely. Each person on your plan must set it up on their own device.

  1. Ensure you have invited the plan member and they have fully created their own Cloaked account.
  2. Have them log into the Cloaked app on their own phone.
  3. From there, they can follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Call Guard setup flow for their phone number.
