Why was my transaction declined?

A transaction may be declined for several reasons, most of which are within your control:

  • Spend limits: If you set a spending cap on your card, charges above that limit will automatically be declined.
  • Merchant restrictions: If you locked your card to a specific merchant, transactions with any other merchant will fail.
  • Locked or paused card: If you manually locked the card in your dashboard, no transactions will go through until you unlock it.
  • Insufficient funds on your payment method: If your linked account or card doesn’t have enough funds at the time of purchase, the transaction can fail.
  • Collections or account standing: If your Cloaked account has an unpaid balance or is restricted, your card may be temporarily disabled.

Next step: If you believe your transaction was declined in error, reach out to Cloaked Support. We’ll review your account and help resolve the issue.
