We understand that sharing your Social Security Number is a serious decision — especially when your goal is to protect your privacy. Cloaked was built with that in mind.
When it comes to financial tools like Cloaked Pay, we’re required by U.S. federal law to verify your identity before enabling access. This is not unique to Cloaked — all regulated U.S. financial services must follow these same rules under laws like the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act.
Your SSN is the most reliable and widely accepted identifier for confirming your identity through secure, automated systems. It helps us verify that the information you provide — name, address, and date of birth — matches official records.
What happens if I choose not to provide my SSN?
If you decline or are unable to provide a valid SSN, we won’t be able to complete identity verification. As a result, you won’t be eligible to use Cloaked Pay at this time.
At present, there is no substitute document or manual process available to bypass this step — even our support team cannot override this requirement.
How does Cloaked protect my data?
Your trust is critical to us. That’s why Cloaked is built with privacy and security at its core:
- Your SSN is never stored in plaintext — it is encrypted and only used for the purpose of secure identity verification.
- We work only with highly vetted, regulated third-party partners who meet strict security and compliance standards.
- We do not use your SSN for any purpose beyond what is required by law to activate financial features.
While you may not be able to use Cloaked Pay without completing this step, you can still enjoy all of Cloaked’s other non-financial privacy tools as part of your subscription.
We're here to help you feel secure at every step. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.
