Need to update your account recovery information? This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to add, change, or remove a recovery email address and phone number. Keeping this information current is crucial for your account security and ensures you can always regain access. We'll cover the process for both the Cloaked desktop dashboard and the mobile app, making it easy to manage your recovery methods from any device.
Managing Your Recovery Methods
Your recovery emails and phone numbers are all managed from a central location within your settings. The navigation path differs slightly depending on whether you are using a computer or the mobile app.
On the Desktop Dashboard
- Log in to your account at my.cloaked.com.
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard. This is typically a circle icon located next to your username.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.
- Click on the Account tab.
- Scroll to the Account Recovery section.
From here, you can manage both your recovery emails and phone numbers.
- To Add a new email or phone: Click the pencil icon and follow the prompts to add a new recovery method.
- To Remove an existing email or phone: Click the trash can icon next to the item you wish to delete.
- To Change an existing email or phone: This is a two-step process. First, click the trash can icon to remove the old method, and then click the pencil icon to add the new one.
After adding or changing an email or phone number, you will be sent a 6-digit verification code to that new method. You must enter this code to confirm the change.
On the Mobile App
- Open the Cloaked app and log in.
- Navigate to Settings and tap on Account Security.
- Tap on Account Recovery.
From here, you can select either "Email" or "Phone" to manage your recovery methods.
- To Add a new email or phone: Tap the option to "Add email" or "Add phone" and follow the prompts.
- To Remove an existing email or phone: Tap the 3 dots next to the item you wish to delete and select Delete.
- To Change an existing email or phone: This is a two-step process. First, remove the old method using the 3 dots menu, and then add the new one.
Just as with the desktop, when you add or change a recovery method, you will be sent a 6-digit verification code to the new email or phone number. Enter this code to finalize the change.
