This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to permanently delete your Cloaked account and erase your data. Deleting your account is an irreversible action. If you only wish to stop payments but keep your data, you may want to cancel your subscription instead. This article covers the full deletion process for both the desktop dashboard and the mobile app, and explains how to export your data beforehand.
Before You Delete: Understand the Difference
It's important to choose the action that's right for you.
- Canceling Your Subscription: This stops all future payments. Your account becomes read-only, but all your data, identities, and history are preserved. You can resubscribe and reactivate your account at any time.
- Deleting Your Account: This is a permanent and irreversible action. Your account and all associated data (identities, passwords, communications, etc.) will be erased forever. Your account cannot be recovered by you or by Cloaked support.
Step 1: Export Your Data (Optional)
Before you permanently delete your account, we recommend exporting a copy of your data. The export process must be done on a computer via the desktop dashboard, as this feature is not currently available on the mobile app.
How to Export Your Data
- Log in to your account at my.cloaked.com.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.
- On the Settings page, go to the Account tab.
- Click "Export my data".
- Confirm your password and click Continue.
- A CSV file containing your data (e.g., export-2025-10-01.csv) will be downloaded to your computer.
What's Included in the Export File?
The exported CSV file contains the core data stored within your Cloaked identities. This includes information both generated by Cloaked and manually entered by you.
Specifically, the file will contain your:
- Identity names
- Associated URLs
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Usernames
- Passwords
- Notes
The export does not include any other custom fields at this time.
Step 2: Delete Your Account
The deletion process is a two-stage process on both desktop and mobile.
On the Desktop Dashboard
Step 1: Scheduled Deletion
- Click your profile icon in the top-right and select Settings.
- Go to the Account tab and click "Delete account".
- Enter your password and click "Continue".
- Read the confirmation prompts and tick the boxes to acknowledge you understand the consequences.
- Click the red "Delete my Account" button.
- Your account is now scheduled for deletion. A banner at the top of your screen will show the exact deletion date, which will be 30 days in the future.
If you wish for your account to be irreversibly deleted immediately instead, please move onto Step 2.
Step 2: Immediate Deletion
- In the red banner at the top of the screen, click "Manage Account".
- Click the link that says "Permanently delete my account now".
- Enter your password again and click "Continue".
- Tick the final confirmation box and click the red "Delete account now" button.
On the Mobile App
Step 1: Scheduled Deletion
- Find your settings by either tapping the profile icon (top-left) or by tapping Menu (bottom-right) and then your name/profile at the top of the screen.
- Navigate to Settings > Account Security.
- Tap "Delete Account".
- Enter your password and tap "Continue".
- Confirm you understand the consequences.
- Your account is now scheduled for deletion. The confirmation page will show the exact deletion date, which will be 30 days in the future. You can cancel this action any time within that period.
If you wish for your account to be irreversibly deleted immediately instead, please move onto Step 2.
Step 2: Immediate Deletion
- After scheduling the deletion, navigate back to the Account Security screen.
- Tap the option to "Delete Account Now".
- Enter your password again and tap "Continue".
- Confirm the final prompts to delete your account immediately.
Final Warning: Deletion is Permanent
Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered for any reason. All associated data will be permanently erased. Cloaked support agents do not have the ability to restore a deleted account.
