If you are moving from the Android Passwords App (also called Google Password Manager) to Cloaked but want to retain your passwords you'll need to export your saved passwords from the Google Password Manager App, you'll need to follow the steps below.
Please note: if you use a Samsung device or a non-Pixel device your passwords maybe saved in a different password manager which may require additional steps to complete the export process.
Exporting Passwords on Android
- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- At the top right, tap More (indicated by the three vertical dots
) then Settings, then tap on Google Password Manager.
- Tap on Settings (lower right hand corner)
- Tap on the option Export passwords
- On the prompt that appears next tap Export
- Tap Save to Downloads.
- You can now find this saved file in the Files App on your Android device under Downloads.
Exporting Passwords on Google Chrome (Computers)
- On your Computer, open Chrome .
- At the top right, tap More (indicated by the three vertical dots
) then Passwords and autofill, then click on Google Password Manager.
- Tap on Settings (left hand side menu)
- Under the option for Export passwords click on the button labelled Download file
- On the prompt that appears next you'll be prompted to enter your computer password or use biometrics
- Choose the folder where you would like to save this file. By default this will be saved to your Downloads folder.
- Click Save to save this file to your computer.
Importing Passwords into Cloaked
Once you've exported these passwords from Android Passwords App (also called Google Password Manager) you'll need to login to your Cloaked account and import the passwords that you have exported.
When you have completed this process we'd highly recommend deleting the file containing your passwords so that other users of your device or computer cannot view your saved passwords (and other details).
