The best way to reset your account is with your Recovery Key, but if you cannot locate it, this guide will show you how to perform a "Hard Reset" to access your account.
Warning/Precaution
Your Cloaked Password (sometimes referred to as Master Password) and Recovery Key are the only two tools that can un-encrypt the Zero-Knowledge Encryption on Cloaked accounts.
As such, when a hard account reset happens, only the following information is not deleted/lost:
- Cloaked-generated Emails
- Cloaked-generated Phone Numbers
- Personal Email (used for account recovery and forwarding)
- Personal Phone Number (used for account recovery and forwarding)
Any other information such as previous communications (in your Cloaked inboxes), or previously saved usernames and passwords in the Cloaked password manager will be lost as part of the account reset/recovery process.
The Reset Process
Navigate to https://my.cloaked.com/ if on desktop, or if on the mobile app, click or tap on "Can't sign in?".
In the forgot password flow on the login page, you will need to enter your Cloaked Username (this will either be a word, your email or your phone number).
On the next page, you will either enter your Cloaked Recovery Key below your Cloaked Username (if correct you'll be able to enter a new password) or if you do not have one click on 'I dont have my recovery key' you'll then need to enter your recovery email address to proceed through the next steps.
If the recovery key matches whats listed in your account you'll receive an email to your inbox to allow you to reset your password yourself.
I'm not receiving an email!
